Summary
Painting. An oil painting on canvas, standing three-quarter-length portrait of Godfrey Charles Morgan,of Tredegar, 2nd Baron, 1st Viscount Tredegar (1st Creation) (1831-1913) by George Frederick Harris (Birmingham 1856 - Sydney 1926), signed and dated, bottom right: G. F. Harris/ 1910. Facing to the right, he wears a black, three piece suit, a grey-blue tie with spots and a pink flower in his left lapel. He holds a pair of pince-nez in his right hand, and a book behind his back.
Provenance
Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
