Summary
Painting. An oil painting on canvas, full-length standing portrait of Evan Frederick Morgan, 4th Baron, 2nd Viscount Tredegar (2nd Creation) (1893-1949) in red, fur lined cape, by Edith Mary Mason Hinchley (b.1870 ), signed bottom right in white EMH, 1937. He wears his Peer's robes at the coronation of George VI. In his white-gloved hand, he holds a sword, and a glove in his right hand. A crown sits on a table behind, the Morgan coat-of-arms is painted in top left corner and long inscription on top right with his coronation chair painted below it.
Provenance
Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
