Summary
Painting. An oil painting on canvas, standing half-length portrait of Courtenay Charles Evan Morgan, 3rd Baron, 1st Viscount Tredegar (2nd Creation) (1867 - 1934) wearing the uniform of a Commander of the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve, by William Mouat-Loudan (London 1868 - London 1925), signed, bottom left, in yellow: MOVAT-LOVDAN, 1920. His yacht 'The Liberty' is in the background. Under his right arm and in his left hand is a telescope, a stormy seascape background with a battleship on the right.
Provenance
Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
