Summary
Painting. An oil painting on canvas of a self-portrait, the head and shoulders of the artist as a young bearded man, looking to the right, in dark clothes with lace at the neck after Sir Peter Paul Rubens (Siegen 1577 - Antwerp 1640), c1850. Dark background. A 19th century copy after the original painting in the Uffizi. Within a stained oak frame, with gilt slip.
Provenance
Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
