Summary
Butter jar. A domestic butter jar, 1900-1950. Rectangular glass bottle with circular metal lid, surmounted by a cog mechanism connected to a turned wooden handle, set within an upright 'D' shape. The mechanism feeds a metal rod through centre of lid, having a lower wooden sheath, attached to four wooden paddles.
