Summary
Key. A brass presentation key, one of three decorative presentation keys. Roman Doric column style shaft with scrolls surrounding an elegant-shaped shield. Decorated with 1898 under a crest which shows black griffins and a blue V-shape pattern, with birds and English roses. Surmounting shield is a gold crown with red enamel insert and a plume above.
Provenance
Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years. Presented to the Right Honourable Lord Tredegar on his opening the Roath sanitary steam laundry, 22nd September 1898.
