Here Evan Morgan is shown in his robes as Chamberlain to the Pope. He would spend a month of every year at the Vatican. As well as converting to catholicism, Evan was very interested in the occult.

A half-length portrait, seated to right, dressed as a Chamberlain to the Pope, with St Peter's and the Vatican, Rome behind him. Within an ebonised frame.
Provenance
Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
