Summary
One of a series of colour photographic cards showing left and right pages from a small mediaeval book in the collection of The British Museum. The left page shows a section of Latin script. There is a large decorative drop capital, with an upside down bird and a monkey holding a baby. The right page shows more Latin script, with a decorative drop capital and a monkey with a bow standing on it in the left margin. At the foot is a person sat with a spear tucked in their waist belt, while lifting a blanket on an otherwise empty cradle. Identified at the bottom 'B. 365', 'Monkey steal baby from cradle' 'Stowe MS. 17, ff. 189b-190. Flemish, circ. A.D. 1300. (Actual Size)', 'Published by the Trustees of the British Museum'. On the reverse is 'Printed in England by Waterlow & Sons Limited, London'
