Summary
One of a series of colour photographic cards showing left and right pages from a small mediaeval book in the collection of The British Museum. The left page shows a section of Latin script with a figure in the bottom left, dressed like a monk, but holding a large shield and carrying a large club standing on a pedestal. The right page shows more Latin script with a monkey on horseback standing holding a long pole while looking backwards between his legs. Identified at the bottom 'B. 362', 'Monkey and quintain' 'Stowe MS. 17, ff. 123b-124. Flemish, circ. A.D. 1300. (Actual Size)', 'Published by the Trustees of the British Museum'. On the reverse is 'Printed in England by Waterlow & Sons Limited, London'
