The model for the ice cream cooler was introduced as part of the Arabesque service in the goût arabesque in 1784 after an antique tripod, with the handle in the form of a fountain spray, designed by the architect and civil engineer Louis Le Masson (1743-1829). Provenance
Purchased by Ralph Dutton at Christie’s London, the Property of a Lady of Title, June 7, 1951, lot 92, ‘Sèvres dessert service pale blue border Bunch in centre’ for £42 (fol. 47). Ice cooler filled with flowers in the photograph of the Dining Room in 'Connaissance des arts', Septembre 1958, p. 33. The service may have been additional components to a large dinner and dessert service ordered by citoyen Guyller, part of which was later acquired by the Duke of Cambridge and sold at Christie’s in 1904.
