Summary
Weston Master IV light meter The whole is a photoelectric light meter As in use the front is marked "Weston Master IV" above the light meter scale which is calibrated from 0 – 25 when the baffle is open and 0 – 1600 when the baffle is closed. Below are the calculator dials with film speed indicator windows. The outside dial shows aperture in full stops 1 - 32. The shutter speed dial runs from 1000 of a second to 64 seconds.. On the right side of the meter is the pointer lock button. The back of the meter has a baffle over the photoelectric cell. When the baffle is closed, the high light scale (0-1600) moves into position. The baffle should be kept closed when the light reads 10 or higher. If the light reading is less than 25, the baffle should be opened bringing the low light scale (0-25) into use. Beneath the baffle and photoelectric cell is a plate which reads “Universal exposure meter, Distributed by Sangamo Weston Ltd, Ilford Ltd, Model S461-4 No D8269 Manufactured by Sangamo Weston Ltd Enfield Middx, ASA K=1.0 Made in Great Britain” Through the plate is a zero corrector. There is a cord attached to the bottom of the meter so that it can be hung around the neck.
