Summary
Canon A-1 35mm SLR Camera. The whole is a rugged metal construction single lens reflex camera. The top of the camera has on the right, as in use, the frame advance lever beneath which is the frame counter, main switch and multiple exposer lever. Next is the AE mode selector and window. On top of the prism is the accessory shoe with automatic flash contacts. Next is the film plane indicator the battery check button and the stop down lever. Finally there is the film rewind crank surrounded by ASA film speed scale and Exposure compensation scale and lock button. The back of the camera opens by lifting the rewind crank to reveal the film compartment. There is a viewfinder hood in place and stamped and painted white is “1554276” The bottom of the camera has the battery compartment, next the film rewind button. In the middle a tripod socket and far left the contacts for a motor drive. The front of the camera has “CANON” stamped in white across the prism and “A-1” on top right. There is an Action grip in place on the right, above which is the AT dial and the AT dial guard. On the left is the PC socket, the exposure memory switch, the exposure preview switch and the stop down lever. There is an eyelet on each side of the front of the camera to which a braid neck strap is attached. The lens first ring is the aperture control which can lock on automatic, next is the depth of field scale and then the focus ring marked from 0.6 – 10 metres and infinity and from 2 – 30 feet. There is a rubber lens hood screwed to the filter ring. The lens is marked “Canon Lens Made in Japan Canon Lens FD 50mm1:1.8”
