Summary
Leica IIIc film camera. The whole is a metal construction, with sharkskin cover to the main body, 35mm roll film camera with a rangefinder viewfinder. The top of the camera has the film advance knob on the right with a frame counter wheel around. To the right is a lever for film advance or rewind and the shutter release button. Next is the lift and set shutter speed dial marked “B 30, 40, 60, 100, 200, 500,1000”. The accessory shoe is on top of the rangefinder which is stamped “Leica D.R.P. Ernst Leitz Wetzla Germany No 489692”. Finally, on the right is the film rewind knob. Looking at the back of the camera, there is a flash synch socket under the accessory shoe and the rangefinder/viewfinder to the left. On each side of the body is a carrying strap eyelet The bottom of the camera has a tripod socket on the right and a recessed, lift out turn buckle which allows the base plate to be removed giving access to the film compartment. There is a film in situ. The front of the camera has three openings along the top. The centre is the viewfinder and the others are the rangefinder. Below and slightly right is an additional speed dial. The lens has a screw mount. The first ring on the lens is the depth of field gauge with the distance ring inside marked from “1 – 20 metres and infinity”. There is a lock on this ring at infinity which is deactivated by pressing the button on the ring. The front of the lens pulls forward to achieve its focal length on the final ring at the front of the lens is the aperture setting marked from “2 -16”. The front of the lens is marked Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Summiter f=5cm 1:2 No 724714”. There is a simple metal lens cap in place embossed "Leica".
