Summary

Plaubel Makina IIIR camera. 6cm X 9cm strut folding camera. Coupled rangefinder with a Compur-Rapid shutter. The whole is a metal with leather covers on the body. The camera folds out from the body on struts. The camera can be used with photographic plates or with a rollfilm back and 120 film. The back of the camera has a slide mounted ground glass plate with a fold down viewer to focus through the camera for plate photography. This unit is marked in white “Plaubell” and “Frankfurt a.M. Made in Germany”. On the top of the back body section is a range finder with a separate viewfinder and fold down sight for framefinder and the rear part of the optical viewfinder with a parallax compensation gauge. On the bottom and the left side are screw mounts to affix the tripod plate. The rear and front sections of the camera are joined by the bellows and two metal cross struts one top and one bottom. The front of the camera is all metal and on the top right is the front section of the optical viewfinder behind which is a scale for Anticomars 10cm. Beside the viewfinder is the thread for a cable release and the release knob. On the left is a scale for Wide angle Orthar 6.8/7.3. There is a plate on the right side of the standard marked “ Makina IIIR” in black and in red “Rapid Compur”. Mounted on the front of the standard is a large metal fold up frame finder. The standard is marked “Plaubell Makina” and “Made in Germany” and on the left side there is a button marked DBP, a button marked “Magn” and “X” and below that is the socket for a flash cord with an adaptor in place to take a synchro socket. On the left side of the standard is a lever for tensioning the Compur shutter and a knurled focusing knob. The first ring on the lens assembly is to set the exposure time and is marked from ” T – 400” and in red is marked “Rapid-Compur”. The next ring activates the quick change lens mount. The front ring sets the aperture and is marked from “6.8 – 32” and “Made in Germany”. The lens is marked “Plaubell Frankfurt a.M. 122320 Rap.Weitw.Orthar 1:6.8 f=73mm” There is a lens cap in place. It is metal with a plush lining and is embossed with the Plaubell logo.
