Summary
A Thorton Pickard Junior Special Ruby Camera. The body is wooden covered with black leather.It has a square leather bellows and focussing is achieved using a side knob which drives a rack and pinion mechanism. The focal plane shutter has speeds 1/10 to 1/1000 sec plus T. The lens is mounted on a rising panel. The screw mounted lens has apertures f4.5- f32. It is marked 'T-P Cooke Anastigmat TT&H Ltd 51/4 inches f/4.5 No 117104'. There is a built in hinged lens cover. At the top is a hooded viewfinger/focus via the reflex mirror and the hood is held open with a metal stay.. The complete assembly hinges to give direct access to the ground glass focusing screen. With this unit open an instruction plate is visible, the first part of which is now illegible but concludes 'with ground side downwards'. The glass screen is removable. On the underside of the hood is 'Patent Applied For 29040/23'. On the front of the hood unit is a plate 'TP Junior Special'. There is a single tripod bush, a leather handle and a neckstrap.
