Summary
Carbon arc illuminant for a cine projector. This comprises a heavy metal baseplate/sledge which slides into gallery in the lamphouse. The lamp is attached to a post through the base plate so that it can be rotated left and right by means of a bolt with a knurled plastic knob and and a rack and pinion arranged around the post. The next bolt with a knurled plastic knob and a vertical rack and pinion adjustsfor height. The next control is a brass nut with a lever attached which when loosened allows the lamp to pitch up and down. The final control allows the upper arc element to be moved forward and back relative to the main element. The main element of the arc is mounted on a metal forward projection with a brass control to adjust the clamp like jaws. This projection is stamped "Established 1818. Trade Mark. London Made". Either side of the sledge there are electrical connection points. The one to the left connects directly to the arm holding the main element with an insulated cable.
