A removable cylindrical metal housing sits on a circular ring above the burners, and has a hinged metal flap with a blue glass porthole on the rear end and a clear glass plate at the other (condenser) end. The whole burner slides into the housing of the projector so that the wick adjusting knobs can be accessed from the rear.
