Summary
Mallinson lantern projector. The lantern is constructed of mahogany and brass. The mahogany lamphouse has a door either side secured by a spring clip, each door has a brass porthole with blue glass. All round the back is a brass rail for the red velvet curtain. The Lamp house is lined with metal and asbestos, both sides have 3 knurled control knobs, from the back, the first controls the movement of the standard, the second controls angle of the lantern to the base board and the third controls the angle of the slide holder. The condenser lens is mounted in the front of the lamp house, forward is the slide holder which is spring mounted behind the lens assembly. The first element of the lens assembly is a mahogany box which moves via the front control knobs, within the box is a bellows action connected to the standard which is a vertical board of mahogany. The objective lens is mounted to the standard by 4 screws through a brass plate, lens screws into the plate. The barrel is stamped “I Mallingson, 126 Dale Street, Liverpool.” There is a rack and pinion control under the lens which does not work and there is a filter ring on the front of the lens.
