Summary
Toy magic lantern projector by German toy maker Jean Schoenner. Polished wooden base. The cylindrical lamphouse has a single condenser lens, and a brass reflector found at the back. Tubular chimney holder in black metal with a brass top. Single objective lens found at the front of the condenser. In front of this is a lens which is in a sliding tube which is inserted into a decorative metal stand. This stand depicts the upper part of the Greek mythological figure Atlas, holding the lens emerging from a pillar. There is one large sliding clip and a semi circular "tray" to hold the circular slide in place. The support for use with panoramic slides is missing, but there is a slot evident behind the lens section where it would fit (see link to photographs of this object in the General Note below). There is a single wick oil burner inside lamphouse and a knob on the outside to adjust the flame. The base and top of the lamphouse are brass.
