Summary
Butcher & Sons Carbine No.2 Model F photographic developing tank. For 2 ½" wide roll-film. Daylight tank. This tank is designed to be used in a vertical position and consists of a long, elliptical cylinder within which the film makes a U shape. The end of the film is fastened to the top of the tank, a plunger then pushes the film down within the tank. The finish is black crackle paint on the tank. At the bottom on the back is what appears to be a screw-in drain plug. The rest of the developing tank components are polished nickel and consist of a box section at the top of the tank. Inside is a small fitment to take the film which is stamped "This side up". beside this is a roller over which the film passes. The final component is a frame with a roller on the bottom which pushes the film down into the tank. At the top, the frame concludes with a loop handle. Built onto the frame is the lid of the tank which consists of a box section which fits over the box section at the top of the tank. It has a built in funnel for introducing the processing chemicals and a plaque on the front which reads: "Butchers Carbine Developing Tank Patent Nos England 20187/1914 France 529513/1921 150663/1920 USA 440788 Germany 347222"
