Summary
Kodak Magnesium Ribbon Holder. This is a (broadly triangular) pentagon shaped box made of folded tin plate. It is designed to safely contain, measure and hold magnesium tape for ignition. The tape is held internally in a roll. By pressing forward on the roll with the thumb a precise length of tape can be projected from the holder. The tape is ignited by placing the end of the tape into a spirit lamp. The burn ceases when the flame reaches the holder, thus the flash can be reduced or extended by moving the ribbon back into the holder or pressing more ribbon out. On one side of the box is an art decor triangular design and Kodak Magnesium Ribbon Holder. On the other side is the same design and a picture of the holder in use.
