Summary
Houghton-Butcher 22S aerial camera. Listed in BFI as Faraday & Sons P18 Aerial Camera This consists of a wooden box section which takes the plates in aopen wooden frame which is held to the box section by a spring clip operated from below. The top of the box section is engraved 22S. The left side has ametal plate engraved with shutter speeds 1/74 - 1/400. The right side has a metal plate with operating instructions. " Set pointer to required settg before winding. Then wind as far as possible." There is an arrow pointing forward above a wooden knob "Press in to turn" Then there is a knurled knob with the numbers 1-9 around but I am unsure as to its function. Then there is another knob which turns and moves downwards again I am unsure as to its function "H-B MFG Co Ltd London" On the front of the box section is monted the lens mount in a large barrel withmetal mounted wooden hand grips on either side. There are sights on top and bottom of the barrel section which fold in when not in use. There is a large lever between the box section and the right hand which opens the lens cover and releases the shutter
