Summary
Aero Recording Camera, camera drive unit model 1431 by A. C. Cossor Ltd with motor supplied by Batwin Electric Motors. This is a metal unit in Battleship grey comprising two main parts permanently joined together. The Batwin electric motor looks like a conventional motor unit and has a label screwed to it which reads "Batwin Frame P335A HP 1/40 Type blank Volts 230 Cycles 50 Phase 1 R.P.M. 2300 Amps blank Rating blank No A3371 218 Batwin Electric Motors Limited Richmond Surrey" The connections for a plug to attach electric supply is on the bottom of this unit along with a very positive press button switch. On the very bottom of this unit is a plastic screw on label reading " Department of Aeronautical Engineering". The drive shaft from this motor enters into the flat bottom of a half cylinder unit which has a knurled knob at one end with a label reading "Inches per second" At the other end is a lever control marked "Stop Film Start". On the base of this end plate is engraved the number 1554. Over the vault of the cylinder is a screwed on label which reads "Camera Drive Unit Model 1431 A.C. Cossor Ltd London Made in England"
