Summary
No.3 Clincher falling-plate magazine box camera by W Butcher & Sons of London. Wooden body covered in black leather and with black leather handle on top. Revolving diaphragms are fittted to the achromatic lens. The shutter provided time and instantaneous exposures and two view finders are built-in for horizontal or vertical shots. The magazine inside is loaded with 12 metal photographic plate holders (quarter plate size, 3¼×4¼''). Markings: Inside the rear door is stamped: "D47262". Circular black metal plate on front panel printed in silver with "Clincher".

Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
