Summary

A Newman and Guardia Special Twin Lens, 5x4 plate camera. Serial Number ST1074. A twin lens reflex camera with folding bed in a wooden and metal box covered in black leather. The bottom of the box has a tripod mount, a leather mount and metal ring for attaching a strap, a metal clip that retains the plate carrier and the ground glass viewing plate and the winding mechanism for the folding bed. The top has a strong leather strap across the middle, a leather mount and metal ring for attaching a strap to the right, T configuration spirit levels and a lift up hooded viewing screen. The right side of the camera (as if on tripod) is designed for using the camera in portrait format. It has a chimney like eyepiece on top of a folding focusing screen hood. There is also T configuration spirit levels and a lift up hooded viewing screen and the toggle for setting the shutter release The left side comprises the compartment containing the wood, leather and metal plate holder and viewing plate. A tripod mount for use in portrait format and the mechanisms to set speed (1/2 - 1/100) and aperture (f6.3 6 ½". Divided: f12.5 11 ¼") and the shutter release. The front of the camera comprises the rise and cross front with secured lift up flaps covering the lenses and two smaller swivel flaps covering the view finders and which opens to reveal the Zeiss Satz Series VII a No.7 f/.6.3 6½". Divided: f/12.5 11 ¼" lenses and the Newman and Guardia patent shutter mechanism Rd No 200964.
