Summary

A Sanderson folding roll film camera made by Houghtons Ltd, London, England. It has a black leather covered mahogany body. Diagonal section double extension red leather bellows. Patented brass support struts with locking bolts. The body is designed for roll film or plates. Plate size 5" x 4" Twin finders to allow for portrait and landscape formats, with rising and cross front. A leather hand strap is fixed to the righthand side of the body. The camera is fitted with a plate back adaptor complete with its ground glass screen. A separate shutter release cable and velvet lined, black leather covered lens cap. There is a brass turning screw to roll the camera out on the mahogany base board. A rotating brilliant finder is fixed to the lefthand side of the baseboard. The baseboard is fitted with a white plastic distance scale on both sides of the base. Markings etched on the righthand brass strut: 'Sanderson patent' and serial no. '15621' The lens is mounted on the crossfront mahognay board. The Goerz lens markings: 'PAT C.P. GOERZ BERLIN No.215220 DOPP ANASTIGMAT Serie III DAGOR F = 150mm 1: 6.8' The Koilos shutter casing is of bright aluminium with 'worm' lines. A pneumatic release cylinder and a finger release and button to open the shutter for focusing. The speeds are set on a dial at the top of the shutter. The black shutter name plate is fixed at the top of the shutter: 'Koilos patent ANG. O.R.G.M.' The white rectangular name plate is fixed on the crossfront, black lettering and Sanderson in red: ' THE Sanderson ROLL FILM CAMERA, PATENT' Also a small white name plate mounted underneath, marked: ' CENTRE' with two red arrows.
