Summary
"Hanover" No 1 Folding Plate Camera. Mahogany frame covered in black leather, with stamped black leather handle. Red leather tapered bellows. The standard is moveable in the vertical plane. Lens - unknown Shutter- Bausch & Lomb pneumatic It has 2 metal focusing rails and a ground glass focusing screen, with black leather hood. Tripod bush is on the hinged cover plate, fitting into a brass inset. Markings "Hanover No 1 Folding" inside the coverplate and distance scale on a metal plate on the side of the coverplate. The carrying handle is embossed with the name "Hanover".
Provenance
Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
