Summary
Leather camera case for Goerz Anschütz No.2 strut folding plate camera. Black leather with stitching detail on front in a rectangular panel (including front of lid). Metal clasp. Leather handle on top of lid. Metal loops on sides for a strap (missing). Base of case is partly missing and very worn. Interior is lined with brown velvet. Single compartment. Retailer's label on inside of lid: "Arthur Gask & Co. Camera Specialists & Opticians, 60 Conduit Street, Regent St, London W1".
Provenance
Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
