Summary
A set of three Kodak double dark slide photographic plate holders for the No. 4 Cartridge Kodak rollfilm camera. Block form double dark slides with black bakelite draw slides in wooden frames. Metal catches and leather tabs. Exposed indicators - stamped into wood on open edge. Stamped into the wooden frame on one side of each holder is: "No. 4 Cartridge Kodak" and on the other side: "Made in USA". Each side is hand numbered, 1 & 2m 3 & 4 and 5 & 6. One draw slide in each holder is etched with the manufacturer's details: "Eastman Kodak Company, Rochester, New York".
Provenance
Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
