Summary
No.4 Cartridge Kodak folding rollfilm camera. For 4 x 5 " exposures on 104 rollfilm. Dark brown leather covered wooden body with polished wood interior. Maroon leather bellows. Wooden bed and standard indicate this is the earlier version (1897-1900) (later models were metal). Lens: f/8, Bausch & Lomb Rapid Rectilinear, iris diaphragm 4 - 128, US scale. Shutter: Eastman Triple Action, pneumatic regulation, speeds slow, medium, fast, B, T. Focusing: Bellows to 6 feet. A small carriage is moved along the bed by hand and locked in position, a rack and pinion (within the carriage) then adjusts the position of the front standard. The focusing pinion is spring loaded. Attributes: Two reflecting view-finders. Tripod bushes on base and side. Film advance indicated by red window, not coupled to shutter. Movements: Rise and cross front. Serial Number: 3030 Markings: Inside back cover: cream circular inset printed with: "No. 4 Cartridge Kodak. Made by Eastman Kodak Co. Rochester, NY, USA" followed by patent details and "Kodak Limited, London, Paris, Berlin". Leather handle on top of camera is stamped with "No. 4 Cartridge Kodak. Eastman Kodak Co, Rochester, NY, USA." Small circular inset on top of camera with Eastman Kodak's details.
