Summary
Newman & Guardia Universal Special Pattern B box plate camera. Wooden and metal body covered with black leather. Black leather bellows. Black leather handle. For 3¼" x 4¼" plates. Internal bellows allow front of box to slide out. Anastigmat lens f/12.5/285 mm. Newman & Guardia pneumatic shutter. Ground glass focusing screen. Changing bag inside back of camera. Base of camera has winding knob to extend bellows, also a tripod bush and the baseboard is marked with two scales. Two "T" spirit levels and two viewfinders. The shutter and aperture controls are contained on an index plate on the bottom of the camera. Markings: Index plate is marked with "N & G" logo and "Special B". Brass plate inside camera back behind focusing screen: "Newman & Guardia Ltd, London" and patent information. Serial number SB 493 is stamped in several places on the camera. Also marked in several places: "Rd No 200964".
