Summary
A Universal A8 8mm cine camera fitted with a Univar precision f5.6 lens. It was produced in 1936. It is equipped with a lens Ilex Univar 1:5,6. Its weight is 0.650 kg.. It is very little and handy. The camera housing is made from zinc, the interior from stainless, brass and aluminium.On the side a metal plate has instructions for the use of apertures under various lighting conditions. The lens is screw mounted and has an iris diaphram with aperture markings f5.6-f16.The barrel of the lens is marked 'Ilex Univar f5.6 Ilex Optical Co Rochester, N.Y., Pat.Appl.'Inside the film chamber there are spindles carrying empty and full spools respectively with clear instructions as to which is which. The full spool it at the top. On the lower spool is the instruction 'Engage spool notches with prongs'. The spool itself is marked 'For use in nivex 8mm Cine Camera'Extenally there is a tripod mount on the base.
