Summary
An Argus C2 miniature, static-bodied camera produced between 1938-42 by Ann Arbor, Michigan and Chicago, Illinois (called Argus, Inc. from 1944). The camera has a bakelite, 'brick'-like body with highly polished metal trim and metal knobs, winders etc. Rangefinder is coupled with lens ring, 50mm Argus coated cintar lens. On back of camera is a label with supplier's details (Wallace Heaton Ltd. London W1) and crest.
Provenance
Part of The Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
