Summary
Newman & Guardia Nydia folding plate hand camera. Wooden body with metal detailing. Black leather bellows, detachable from lens panel to enable folding. Brown leather plate transfer pouch. Pivoted struts support the lens panel. Contains 6 glass plates in metal plate holders. Ross f/8 lens. Markings: On side of struts: "Nydia", and "N & G London". Two plaques affixed to rear of camera: "Sands, Hunter & Co. 37 Bedford Street, London, W.C." and "Newman & Guardia Ltd, 90 & 92 Shaftesbury Avenue, London W."

Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
