Summary
A Kinora viewer. A hand operated viewer for Kinora picture reels. The body of the viewer is made of inlaid, polished mahogany with a folding base. The two rectangular lenses are encased in a black japanned tin hood, which are mounted onto a fixed mahogany support. At the bottom of this is the cog/mount to hold the reel and a cast-iron movable, hinged arm to keep the reel in place. On the right is the turning handle which has a black plastic knob. This turning handle allows the reel to revolve and make the pictures flip one by one thus giving a moving image. On the underside of the fixed mahogany support is a metal plate, which opens up to expose an aperture between the lenses. Markings: stamped into the tin hood in gold coloured script "The Kinora" the letter "a" has been extended with a ribbon scroll. Underneath is a white label "c1905 0/62"
