Summary
Box for stereoscopic slides. Brass bound mahogany with a brass handle on each end and a lid that lifts off, with a matching brass handle in the centre. Lid is lined with self-patterned green fabric. Inside the base of the box are wooden dividers along each long side, to hold 26 slides. Some damage - several small pieces of wood from the dividers have broken off.
Provenance
Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
