Summary
A Unis-France hand-held stereoscope. Brewster type, wooden body and ground glass screen at the rear which hinges downward to open access to interior. Beveled corners, interocular adjustment using two metal knobs on the side. Mirror flap on top (mirror missing). Eye pieces and lens surround all painted black. Metal clip to secure slides is next to the slot for inserting slides. Markings: Brass and black manufacturer's plaque affixed above lenses, reads: "76. Unis France. Stereoscopes. Mattay. Paris. 3".

Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
