Summary
Le Taxiphote stereoscopic viewer. Mahogany body, ground glass screen at back. Automatic slide changing mechanism, rack focusing lens and sideways adjustment to width of eyepieces. With two keys on string, in lock, with brown card label on string, which reads: "Taxiphote". Viewer has dial on side to count slide numbers 1-25. Inside the viewer is a black metal tray to hold 25 glass stereoscopic slides. The tray is stamped with "Taxiphote Breveté SGDG" and "J Richard, Constructeur, Paris". Also stamped along each side are numbers (even only) from 2 to 24. On the front of the tray is a white label with blue border, without markings. Markings: manufacturer's plate on front reads: "Le Taxiphote. Steréo-Classeur. Distributeur Automatique. Breveté SGDG".

Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
