Summary
A lap machine made by Lord Brothers, Todmorden, in 1920. This is the final part of the first machine to process the raw cotton. This machine takes the raw cotton fed from the hopper feeder (NT.1453861) and through the scutcher (NT.1453862) and compresses the cotton through a series of weighted calendar rollers. It then winds the compressed cotton around a central metal bar to create a lap (roll) of cotton.
