Summary
A scutcher made by Lord Brothers, Todmorden, in 1920. This is the second part of the first machine to process the raw cotton. This machine takes the raw cotton from the hopper feeder (NT.1453861) via a conveyor belt system and mixes it together inside a blow chamber, opening up the fibres and partially cleaning the cotton. From here the cotton is fed through a honeycomb roller and into the lap machine (NT.1453863).
