Provenance
Peter Barkworth has written, ' I bought this in 1963 at a picture dealer's in England's Lane. I passed it every day on my way to rehearsals of a television play in St John's Wood. Eventually, at £45, I bought it. It was called Coast Near Newcastle and said to be by Jacob Danby. The present (correct) title and name of artist is supplied by me! It was in poor condition, now has been restored and retouched - escpecially the rather wooden breaking wave'; bequeathed by Peter Barkworth (1929 - 2006)
