Summary
A double-manual harpsichord inscribed on the fascia batten Burkat Shudi et Johannes Broadwood No.625 Londini Fecerunt 1770 (the underside of the soundboard in inscribed Burkat Shudi et Joh. Broadwood Londini facit (sic) 1769). The case veneered with mahogany and burr walnut, inlaid with decorative lines and fitted with later, but period lid-securing hooks. Instrument rests on its original stand and is furnished with one lid prop-stick, its original detachable ‘fallboard’, music desk and wrest plank ‘swell shade’. Keyboard compass CC – f ''', disposition lute, 2x8' and 1x4' with buff (‘harp’) stop, pedal-operated machine stop and pedal-operated ‘Venetian’ swell.
