Summary
An ebonized and polychrome-decorated armchair, one of a pair, English, circa 1800, the curved top rail above five uprights, the open back splat painted as scrolling acanthus leaves, the central upright decorated as a spirally turned column, the surrounding area painted with various foliate and floral motifs, the shaped armrests, friezes and shaped square-section front legs similarly decorated. The cane seat with a green linen covered squab cushion trimmed with green cord (NT 1449288.2).
