Summary
Scent bottle in the form of a cockerel; gold collar enamelled in red 'Courage' on a white ground; painted in natural colours with flowers on the base, which is also mounted with gold collar, St. James's factory, London, Charles Gouyn, proprietor, c. 1752-55. Acquired by Mrs. Millicent Salting before 1925, when it was noted in G. E. Bryant, The Chelsea Porcelain Toys, London, 1925; another is the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 64.101.544a, b (see Yvonne Hackenbroch, Untermyer Catalogue,1957, pl. 63, fig. 97); and a third is the British Museum, Franks Collection, 1887, 0307,ll 143.
