Figure, ‘Pair of Sacrifice Figures’, second size. Soft-paste biscuit porcelain. A bareheaded youth clad in a tunic, stands barefoot, holding a sacrificial knife in his right hand poised over a kid that lies upon a plinth-like altar, a basin collects the blood, raised on an octagonal neo-classical base. Note: Figure is apparently adapted from an engraving in Abbé Banier, Les Métamorphoses d'Ovide, Paris, 1767-1771. The model introduced by 1771.
