Summary
[Saved] A brass wall plaque commemorating the use of Clandon Park as a miliary hospital during the First World War from 1914 to 1919. Fixed to the west wall of the Marble Hall. It reads 'Clandon Park Hospital 1914-1919 During the Great War this house was used as a private miliary hospital. It was opened on October 14th 1914 and closed on April 1st 1919 during which time there were admitted 5058 patients from the Belgian French and British Armies including the Canadian, New Foundland, South African, New Zealand and Australian contingents of the latter directly from the fronts in Flanders, France and Türkiye. To those patients who died a monument has been erected in the West Clandon churchyard where most of them lie buried.'
