Summary
[Destroyed in the fire of 2015] Oil painting on canvas, Hon. Pamela Louisa Eleanor Dillon, Countess of Onslow (1915-1992) by James Penniston Barraclough (1891 – London 1942). 1939. Three-quarter-length portrait of the first wife of 6th Earl of Onslow, seated on a grassy bank, turned to the right, gazing to the right, holding a branch of oak on her lap, and wearing a green jumper, grey skirt and patterned scarf tied around her neck, a red coat lied on the bank beside her. Flat landscape with distant horizon with stormy clouds.
Provenance
Marked in Lady Iveagh’s 1966 Inventory, p4. Accepted by the Treasury in lieu of Estate Duty on the death of the 6th Earl of Onslow, presumably in 1977.
