Summary
[Destroyed in the fire of 2015] Tapestry, Arabesque, probably Joshua Morris, c. 1720-29. "The ivory/grey ground with a broad white pedestal flanked by red and blue acanthus leaves centred by an eagle with outstretched wings and supporting a vase of multi-coloured summer flowers, at one side is perched a macaw and with yellow spandrels and blue and red acanthus leaves continuing in carnations and convolvuli down the sides.” This description closely matches the tapestries produced by the Soho weaver Joshua Morris in the 1720s (see Snodin (ed.) 1984, pp. 212-3). Previously attributed to Thomas Bradshaw.
