Summary
[Destroyed in the fire of 2015] One of a pair of early George III chinoiserie mahogany sofas, with moulded uprights, the arched top-rails carved with pagodas, each with an arcaded splat also carved with pagodas, the arms enclosing lancets and raised on chamfered legs, each covered in a panel of 18th century silk and wool gros point worked with carnations, narcissi and other flowers on a terracotta ground.
