Summary
Meat dish. A large, earthenware meat dish with moulded spine and a well supported by feet. The Cairo pattern comprises a blue pattern, orange band, embossed rope effect band and turquoise band as decoration around the rim of the dish. The mark 'CAIRO JD and Co' on the underside refers to the Cairo pattern of John Dimmock and Company, Albion Works, Hanley, and has been dated to 1862-1878. There is also a mark '1/5206' in brown pen. The glaze is cracked and is worn on the base of the well and the bottom of the feet. The turquoise band is chipped and worn.
